Woodslore and Wildwoods Wisdom
A Musical Storytelling Concert

Doug Elliott of North Carolina is a storyteller who performs a lively concert of amazing tales, traditional tunes, nature lore, and outrageous personal narratives. He flavors it all with regional dialects, masterful harmonica riffs, and more than a few belly laughs. His performance of Woodslore and Wildwoods Wisdom: a Musical Storytelling Concert for family audiences will be featured on May 22nd at 3:00pm at the Suffolk County Environmental Center, 550 South Bay Avenue, Islip, NY 11751. Admission is free.
Doug Elliott has performed at folk festivals, museums, botanical gardens, nature centers and schools from Canada to the Caribbean. He has been a featured storyteller at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee.
Whether he's singing about catfish, pontificating on possums, extolling the virtues of dandelions, pondering the “nature” in human nature, telling wild snake tales or wailing out a jivey harmonica tune, acclaimed naturalist, storyteller and champion harmonica player, Doug Elliott, will take you on an unforgettable, multifaceted cultural tour of North America's back country.

Storytelling Nature Walks with
Doug Elliott

Acclaimed storyteller and naturalist Doug Elliott of North Carolina, will take nature walkers on a lively, story-filled exploration of the pristine woods and marshes surrounding the new Suffolk County Environmental Center on Sunday, May 23rd. Admission is $6.

A Wildwoods Ramble for Young Folks especially designed for Pre-K-Grade 3 children accompanied by adults will take place from 10:00am-11:30 am.
Tales on the Trail: Weeds, Woodslore and Wildwoods Wisdom will take place from 1:00-3:00 pm for adults and for young people Grades 5 and up accompanied by adults.
