3 PM –Eddie Barbash – Tres Amigos
Eddie Barbash (sax) and his trio are new, young musicians who combine country, jazz, and New Orleans sounds. The group is a rare combination of retro bluegrass with the instrumentation of acoustic guitar, saxophone and accordion make for an original sound. A band that can strike the balance between classically-trained musicianship and energetic spontaneity is tough to find, BUT the Amigos pull it off --a rare gem.
Their cabaret style sends raucous vibrations wall to wall. Something incredibly sincere pervaded Tres Amigos entire performance. Eddie also plays with several other groups, including the Jon Batiste Band from New Orleans.

4 PM –Mother Water
Akin to Weather Report and the subsequent work of its founding member Joe Zawinul, Richard Bona, and Hugh Masekela, The Mother Water Quintet performs original compositions and arrangements inspired by the music of African cultures in sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas. The group’s repertoire bridges the idioms of jazz fusion, popular music, and world beat showcasing an array of styles, including Brazilian bossa nova and samba, as well as West African Afro-beat and highlife, and South African township jive. Each of its members contributes significantly to the diversity of idioms that also characterize Mother Water or "Mami Wata"---the powerful African water deity who embodies hybridity and syncretism in the African arts on both sides of the Atlantic.
